With strong English and Arabic language capabilities and an extensive knowledge of local legal and regulatory requirements, the practice is divided into contentious and non-contentious matters involving Qatari laws and regulations. The Firm does not undertake criminal or family work.
The practice primarily involves conducting proceedings in the Qatari civil courts (up to and including the Court of Cassation) and also arbitrations – both in Qatar and abroad – under international regimes (such as ICC and LCIA) and local procedural rules.
In its non-contentious practice, the Firm concentrates on representing corporate clients, that are carrying on business in Qatar. It advises on all aspects of Qatar’s commercial and civil laws. We act for both Qatari and international corporates. Additionally, a significant proportion of work comes from instructions from international law firms (located both inside and outside Qatar) in matters having or including a Qatari aspect. Firms with which the Firm regularly works include Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, DLA Piper, Freshfields, Hadef & Partners, KBH Kaanuun, King & Spalding, Latham & Watkins, Linklaters, Norton Rose Fulbright, Pillsbury, Shearman & Sterling, Skadden Arps, Stephenson Harwood, Watson Farley & Williams and White & Case).
